Dave Kauk, a native of Sutton, graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, with a degree in secondary education – math major and physics minor. He taught high school math and science for four years at Lustre Christian High School in Montana. He has taught upper elementary math, science, and music part time for the past twenty-four years at Sutton Christian School.
Ann Kauk, a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, graduated from Dordt College with a degree in elementary education, specializing in language arts. Following graduation she taught a grades 1 – 3 combination classroom in Lustre, Montana, for three years. She is beginning her thirtieth year of teaching at Sutton Christian School having taught full time and part time all grade levels except kindergarten over the years.
Melissa grew up in Kerman, California, but moved to Nebraska after graduating high school. She graduated from Dordt College in 2002 with a degree in Elementary Education. Melissa taught at Sutton Christian from 2002-2007 and then spent a year teaching at Haven Peace Academy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She came back to Sutton and continued to teach at SCS until 2013, when she and her husband moved to Haiti to serve at Children of the Promise. While in Haiti, she stayed involved in education by teaching preschool part time, overseeing education at COTP, or teaching middle school literature at Cap Haitian Christian School. She will be teaching 5-8th grade.
Graduating from Calvin College in Grand Rapids MI in 1983 with an Elementary Education degree, Jane began teaching at SCS for grades 4-7. She taught three years then stayed home to raise her six children for 12 years. She returned to SCS in 1999 and continued teaching the 6-8 grades until 2011. She will be teaching grades 5-8 this year.
Joan is in her 31st year of teaching at Sutton Christian. Prior to teaching at SCS, Joan received nine years of teaching experience at other schools. She is originally from the Sutton area and graduated from UNL with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She teaches 3rd & 4th grades as well as PE to grades K-8th.
Amy Jahnke is a native of Curtis, NE. but has lived in Sutton for the past 12 years. She graduated from UNL with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then worked with Campus Crusade for Christ in St. Louis for 5 years making several mission trips to Ukraine while there. She has been a stay at home mom of three until taking a para professional job in Henderson. Amy worked with elementary-middle school children for two years before
accepting a full-time position at SCS assisting in 1st and 2nd in the morning and teaching 7th and 8th grade in the afternoons. She is excited to teach 1st and 2nd this year and also work towards her Master of Arts in teaching K-8
Annette and her husband Scott have lived in Saronville for 20 years, and are originally both from Hastings, Nebraska.
Annette home-schooled her four boys for 20 years and then began assisting with the pre-school at Sutton Christian School. The opportunity to teach kindergarten became available and Annette jumped at the opportunity to obtain the necessary credentials to fill that position. This is Annette's third year with SCS.
Kayla was born and raised in Sutton, NE and she attended SCS as a student for two years. She has been involved in the childcare business for over 20 years. Kayla has worked in a variety of church and state run preschools and daycares as well as in-home childcare. This is Kayla’s fourth year at SCS and she teaches morning preschool three days a week.
Justine is a Sutton native and an SCS alum. She obtained her associate’s degree in graphic and media arts from Central Community College. This will be Justine’s third year teaching art, she is looking forward to challenging and inspiring her students as they develop their artistic style! When Justine is not teaching art she assists Mrs. Herndon in the kindergarten classroom.
Lori assists with all things admin and paperwork related. We are so grateful for her!
